NATIONAL FINALS! 29/04/10

The national finals are actually here, the day that we have been preparing for all year is here. Arw we ready? We sure do hope so.
Its going to a fin day in croke park hopefully but like the last time we dont really know what to expect. In the regional finals we walked into the room and our jaws dropped when we saw our competition they were so good so im sure today will be 10000x harder!

We have been up to a bit since last time. We had our internet banking hour where everyone who joined up to internet banking or opened an account got an easter egg, there was a great response.
We had our cryptic crossword competition which was one of our more challenging competitions of the year and which people actually enjoyed, we had questions like "if an o is yours it is...?!" £
We also had our savvy saver of the month competition each month but we have come to the conclusiuon that our savvy saver of the year is..... CIARA FORAN!!! Ciara has been a great support throughout the year and has constantly saved and entered competitions. She was also the winner of 150e. So well done Ciara :)

Thanks again to everyone for your support :) we are sad to see that it is the end onf the competition and savvy savers but we had fun and it was truly a once in life experience and we learned things that will stick to us forever :)

And the Winner is....

guess what!!!!!..... WE WON WE WON WE WON WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Savvy savers one National Qualifier and Overall best bank in the Regional Finals against 13 other schools :O
We all won a ds lite each and a camera for the school. It was an awesome day! Ill get pictures posted asap but for now heres something from our awesome manager Ellie :)

--Wednesday 3rd March was the the regional fianl for the AIB Build A Bank Challenge, and of course the day we had been preparing for for so long.
The compition took place in the Kilashee House hotel. When we arrived there were other schools waiting in the lobby area, and everyone was putting their final touches to their display for the judges.

The nerves of all six of us began to set in as we waited around to be given the go ahead to start setting up. We were given some light breakfast and then sent in to set up our display and prepare for our ten minutes with the judges.

There were 14 school in the competition in total, and we were at stand number 13. The judges came around to look at the display first of all, and then to talk with each team for 10 minutes. We did really well we thought, we were all able to communcate well as a team, and the judges were impressed with our display and our ability to communicate. A big talking point was having John Murray From the Business on RTE at our launch and of course the fact that we were on the radio show on Saturday Morning.

When it came to the presentation of the awards and winning school bank team we were all very nervous. We were unsure as to how well we had done and aware that the competition from other schools was very high. The three other catagory prizes were called first and then the big one. When we heard that our schoolname St Wolstan's Celbridge was called out as the National Qualifiers and the overall Best School Bank we were so happy, the girls and I could'nt believe it. Next stop for us is the Natrionals In Croke Park this May. Lots more hard work to be done before then.

We would all like to say a special thanks to Ms Mc Mahon for all her help, support and patience, Mrs Leahy for everything, you have been great, and Michelle our AIB Bank Rep for all her guidance.
From me, I would like to thank all the girls on the team, you are all so great and a pleasure to work with, well done

Check out our blog or Facbook for all the updates from Savvy Savers and we will keep you posted! :) xox

Also we have a big poster called the savvy savers wall.....which is when you become a member you get to sign a "brick" and we stick it to the poster with all the other bricks and we can "build" our bank with all the bricks we!
This week we got 20 bricks! If we keep that up every week it would be awesome. So when you get your letter back from the bank confirming your a member come down to us and you can get your own brick on our wall!

We will be open every Wednesday @ Lunch in the Science corridor! With sweets for members and great competitions. Every 50th brick on the wall gets a suprise and there will be some other great competitions through the year as well!
